The Anglican Central Education Authority (ACEA) is pleased to announce two significant leadership appointments as we prepare for the commencement of the 2026–2027 academic year. These appointments reflect the Authority’s continued commitment to recognizing faithful service, developing leadership from within, and strengthening our mission of delivering Christ-centered, values-based academic excellence throughout our Anglican school system.
The ACEA affirms that exceptional leadership is founded upon integrity, dedication, professional excellence, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Today, we celebrate two distinguished educators whose combined service to the Authority spans more than four decades and whose leadership has positively influenced the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues across The Bahamas.
The Authority is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Leon Mars as Human Resources, Personnel & Curriculum Officer within the ACEA Education Department, effective Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Mr. Mars brings more than twenty years of dedicated service to the Anglican Central Education Authority, having faithfully served at three of our four Anglican schools in a variety of teaching and senior leadership capacities.
His distinguished leadership journey has included service as Principal of St. Andrew’s Anglican School, where he provided visionary leadership and guided the continued development of the school community. He later transitioned to St. John’s College, where he served with distinction as Vice Principal in both the Primary and Secondary Departments. Throughout each appointment, Mr. Mars has demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to the development of students, faculty, and school communities.
In his new role, Mr. Mars will provide strategic support in the areas of human resources, personnel development, curriculum, and institutional effectiveness. His appointment represents an important investment in strengthening the operational and academic capacity of the ACEA Education Department as the Authority continues to enhance educational excellence across its schools.
The Authority is confident that Mr. Mars’ extensive experience, collaborative leadership style, and deep understanding of Anglican education will serve the school system exceptionally well in this new capacity.
Further, the Authority is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Claudette Smith as Vice Principal – Secondary Department, St. John’s College, effective Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
For more than twenty years, Mrs. Smith has faithfully served the Anglican Central Education Authority at both St. John’s College and St. Anne’s School, consistently demonstrating exemplary leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has served in several key leadership positions, including Head of the Humanities Department and Senior Mistress, where she has provided outstanding instructional leadership, mentorship, and support to faculty while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and student achievement.
Mrs. Smith is also a veteran Physical Education and Religious Studies educator who is widely recognized as one of the Authority’s most accomplished Religious Studies teachers. Over the course of her career, she has consistently produced exceptional National Examination results at both St. John’s College and St. Anne’s School, reflecting her passion for teaching, instructional excellence, and student success.
Her steadfast commitment to Anglican education, servant leadership, and the holistic development of young people has earned her the admiration and respect of students, parents, colleagues, and the wider Anglican community. The Authority is deeply grateful for her more than two decades of faithful service and is confident that she will continue to provide outstanding leadership in her new role as Vice Principal.
These appointments represent far more than promotions; they are a celebration of faithful service, proven leadership, and an enduring commitment to the mission of Anglican education.
Both Mr. Leon Mars and Mrs. Claudette Smith have dedicated their professional careers to advancing educational excellence within the Anglican Central Education Authority.
