The Anglican Central Education Authority (ACEA) proudly congratulates St. Anne’s School on winning the 2026 IBS Build-a-Bridge Challenge, marking the school’s first-ever victory in the national engineering-based competition.
St. Anne’s secured the title on Friday, April 17, 2026, breaking Anatol Rodgers High School’s two-year winning streak in the event’s fifteen-year history. The competition challenges senior high school students to design and construct a bridge using only wooden popsicle sticks and glue, engineered to support the maximum possible weight while also being judged on aesthetics and technical execution.
The event drew participation from schools across The Bahamas and was attended by the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Education and Technical & Vocational Training, who lent her support to the competing teams. St. Anne’s now joins an elite group of only four schools to have ever claimed the Build-a-Bridge title, alongside St. John’s College, St. Augustine’s College, and Anatol Rodgers High School.
The ACEA also extends congratulations to Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy and Anatol Rodgers High School for their strong performances, and to IBS and the Ministry of Education & Technical & Vocational Training for sustaining a competition that inspires young Bahamians to explore careers in engineering and related fields.
