St. Anne’s Deputy Head Girl Places Third in Max Turner Art, Essay & Speech Competition

The Anglican Central Education Authority (ACEA) proudly announces that St. Anne’s School Deputy Head Girl, Rogan Smith, captured third place in the high school speech segment of the 2026 Max Turner Art, Essay & Speech Competition, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Fort Montagu.

The annual competition, held on Friday, April 17, brought together student leaders from schools across New Providence under the theme, “Growing Leaders, One Good Deed at a Time: Ordinary Kids, Extraordinary Service.” High school finalists represented Nassau Christian Schools, C.R. Walker Senior High School, St. Anne’s School, and Queen’s College. Rogan’s compelling speech earned her a trophy and a cash scholarship in recognition of her outstanding performance.

Launched in 2019, the Max Turner Art, Essay & Speech Competition honours the legacy of the late Maxwell Turner, a long-serving Kiwanian and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Fort Montagu. The event, held in partnership with the University of The Bahamas Circle K International Club and Toastmasters, awarded more than $6,000 in scholarships and prizes this year to students ranging from primary to high school.

ACEA Director of Education commends Rogan and the St. Anne’s community, noting that her achievement reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing confident, articulate student leaders whose faith and service extend beyond the classroom. This recognition also highlights the value of co-curricular programmes such as Key Club, which help students develop public speaking skills, civic awareness, and a heart for service.

The Anglican Central Education Authority congratulates Rogan, her family, her teachers, and the leadership of St. Anne’s School on this significant accomplishment and extends appreciation to the Kiwanis Club of Fort Montagu and its partners for investing in the growth and development of young Bahamian leaders.
