On World Teachers Day, my beloved teachers of the Anglican school system, I want to remind you how tremendously and exponentially significant you are as a resource. Teachers impart literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. You also play a vital role in personal development, socialization, and shaping a child’s perspective on life. Often, a teacher serves as a second parent, compensating for the deficiencies at home.
With this, it becomes clear why World Teachers Day is so important. You, my sisters and brothers, are invaluable and deserve to be recognized. You are an essential part of the future of education. It’s important to remember that you are part of the present but of the future as well, and you play a key role in delivering education now and consistently. As the Bishop of this Diocese, I take this moment to thank and honor you. We want you to know that you are both valuable and necessary, and we are committed to doing all we can to make your work easier.
We encourage you to always give your best, not just for the Anglican Church, the ACEA, the Education Department, or your respective schools, but for God. As I said at the opening of the school year, no matter what you think of yourself—your strengths, your training, or the challenges you face—no matter your successes or struggles, God has placed you where you are to impact at least one child. And if it’s one child, it’s undoubtedly more than one. But know that God has positioned you there for a reason.
We wish you a happy World Teachers Day and are grateful for all you do for our school system.
Enjoy your day, celebrate World Teachers Day, and may God bless you and your families.
The Rt. Rev’d. Laish Boyd
Diocesan Bishop
The Anglican Diocese
